We have been providing support for back to school since 2017, such as Moses and Pritchard. After completion of a 12-year compulsory education and sports career as athletes, there is almost no support system for those athletes in African countries.
Studying abroad in Japan is extremely difficult, although it is worth the challenge, it is a narrow gate. There are almost no support schemes for athletes in Japan’s current Official Development Assistance.
The formation of a second career for handball players who visited Japan with the support of the Zikomo project is a significant project to foster the next generation of leaders in the sports industry.
Since we have been considering further support for the formation of the second career as a follow-up of the back to school, we started with two types of support from the athletes who completed 12-year compulsory education.
・ Support for acquiring business-related qualifications
・ Support for acquiring sports-related qualifications
In addition, the use of a personal computer is indispensable for effectively implementing these types of support. It is also part of vocational training.
Therefore, we started by lending a personal computer, to keep motivating people’s lives and activities, and through submitting research papers for the business areas that each athlete wants to work on. The athletes can set daily goals and encourage them to challenge their new careers.
